The For Birds Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of all birds, with a special focus on pet parrots. Birds are highly sensitive to their environment, diet, the presence of other birds and animals, and the moods of their human companions. Therefore, it is essential that anyone considering bringing a bird into their home is well-educated on how to care for that specific species.
To ensure the best possible care for our birds, the For Birds Foundation requires potential adopters or foster caregivers to complete a specialized avian course put out by the American Federation of Aviculture. This course has been carefully selected by our board for its comprehensive and clear coverage of the physical and emotional needs of parrots.
It is highly recommended that adopters and potential foster caregivers watch the recommended videos as well as take the mandatory class.

You must register for an account on the right upper corner.
You will NOT have to join as a member, but you must register. Once registered, it will take you to another page. At the TOP click on the payment button.
There will be a pull-down menu to pay for the course. Choose “FOA 1 does not include membership.”
Once the class is paid for, it will take up to 24 hours to get an email confirming your registration. When ready to take the class you will find it under my classes the next time you sign into your account on the site.
After you complete the class the AFA office will send you a certificate of completion however to be sure they do send it out to you please email [email protected] requesting your certificate. Once you receive your certificate please email a copy of it to For Birds Foundation at [email protected].
